Distressing things happen to both good and bad men. Disasters and unpleasant scenarios do happen to all of us but the way we respond or react to the situation makes the difference. And this is where our mental and emotional state play the role.

Mental and emotional health is as important as our physical health. And just like our physical health when not cared properly, our mental and emotional state deteriorates. When we neglect the role and existence of our mental and emotional health we are sure to have emotional problems and we are prone to stress and anxieties. In other words, mental and emotional health is important because it is our specific sense of well being psychologically. The problem with most of us today is that we only give the right attention to our mental health when already experience some emotional discomfort and uncontrollable feelings and anxieties. We neglect when we are happy and we are in panic when something goes wrong. The state of our mental and emotional health affects our relationship towards our colleagues and towards our loved ones. And this can even affect our performance towards our work or business.


An individual who bears good mental and emotional health is likely to be the positive type rather than the pessimist. He is more contented to things that he possess rather than getting discontented to the things that he does not own. He is the master of his emotions and knows the right reactions to every difficult situations but this does not mean that he can no longer get stressed or frustrated. He at times can still get pressured and be anxious but the difference is the way he handles his emotions. He can still smile amidst the distressing things happening and he can still move forward with all the pressures pressed upon him at work or at business. His relationship towards his family is quite good compared to the individual who suffers from bad mental and emotional health.

There are lots of factors that can deteriorate and damage our mental and emotional health. One of the most distressing factor that affects our mental health is the food we eat. Nutrient or vitamin deficiency can alter the healthy emotions that we experience. The drugs we take can also play a big role in our emotions. So, as early as now we need to give fuller attention to our psychological areas before it's too late.
